Torrent Contents

Please note that this page does not hosts or makes available any of the listed filenames. You cannot download any of those files from here.
This list is automatically generated from a “.torrent” file which is simply metadata for the bittorrent protocol. You cannot download the “.torrent” file from here either. We don’t even cache it. If you are lucky the “.torrent” file might still be available on the pages where we found it. There is a list of URLs on top of this page where you might want to start your search. Those domains are completely independent; we have absolutely no control over them. Please don’t blame us if your monitor explodes.

Howto prepare for the TOEFL,
the Old School way.

*** Introduction

I've passed the TOEFL with a good score.
I'm writing this howto to thank the Internet Community, all the guys who have
shared material, software and books for the TOEFL, and the guys who have
written all the good Free-GPL programs.
In addition, this howto might be helpful to whoever wants to pass the TOEFL.

*** Stuff to get

** Software

- It is very important to find a good exam-simulation software, expecially if
you're going to take an iBT (internet based test) exam. The closest it
is to the real one, the better.

You can download it, somewhere, with bittorrent:
- find some good .torrent search engine
- search using keywords like "TOEFL, Preparation, material, course, English,
test, software"
Or try other P2P systems.

Check if the screenshots of the real exam-software, which you can find on the
official TOEFL site, match the screens of your downloaded one.

List:
- Kaplan software (the closest to the real one)
- Barron (good to practice)
- Longman (useless)

- Get some good Text To Speech software. It will help you to get the right
pronunciation.
Good examples: festival, espeak (use them with Ubuntu).

** Media

- Internet TV! That is the key. It's better that single movies. Get Miro now: http://www.getmiro.com/
Try to watch channels with good talks (f.e. "TED talks"), pause and talk (in english) about what
you've heard, making a short summary, your consideration, etc...

- Movies: use bittorrent

** Books

- There are a lot of books for the TOEFL, but most of them are just a waste of
time. You don't want to read how to study, you have to study! and practice!
practice! Did I say "practice!"? Practice!

But maybe, a good one is that of the prepared essays (f.e. Barrons-How.to.Prepare.for.TOEFL.Essay_1.pdf ).
You can copy the style, and most of all learn what to say about all those stupid
topics.

...continuation of the previous comment...

You can copy the style, and most of all learn what to say about all those stupid
topics.

List:
Barron's How to Prepare for TOEFL (get the book 2, the first is useless)

- Read ton of novels and other kind of written texts (news, essays, papers,
etc...) But, novels are the funniest ;)
This is your chance to waste some time on the books you've never read, but
you wanted to.
After you've read a considerable amount of texts, pause. And write! Try to
copy the author's style.

** Speaking

- Skype?

*** Method

Just find your favourite combination to use all the above material. Give
yourself at least two weeks of full-immersion.

Tip: use a stopwatch. you need to get accustomed to STOP THINKING and just
replying/writing to the dumb questions they ask you, in the short period
of time you have.

*** Warnings

Forget all the cracks, magic methods, formulas, great tutors, "howto improve english in 10mins", etc...
You are just wasting time there. You have to be able to read, write, listen,
and speak English. So, the best way is to read, write, listen, and speak
English. Got it?
